Chapter 20 - Enterprise and Industrial Policy

The EU's industrial policy aims to promote industrial strategies that would increase competitiveness, speed up adaptation to structural changes, encourage the creation of a favorable business environment across the EU, increase domestic and foreign investment, and enhance the overall business environment in which small and medium-sized enterprise, and entrepreneurship and innovation would be encouraged.

The development of competitiveness and the SME sector is one of the top priorities of the EU. European legislation and financial support provide an opportunity for the establishment of a competitive-based economy in response to globalization and the need for sustainable economic development. In this regard, SMEs are a kind of driving force that fosters industrial growth and economic progress.

For countries such as the Republic of Macedonia, the steps and activities that are being implemented and implemented in this area are in direct relation to the development of the entire industry, where clearly defined industrial policy and the development of the strategic sectors, together with the policy based on the support of SMEs, is an important prerequisite for the development of a strong market economy. From year to year, Macedonia is making progress in improving the overall business environment for SMEs by simplifying certain administrative procedures, financial support, legislative alignment, etc. However, in the forthcoming period, additional efforts and funds should be provided, and should be raised capacities of different stakeholders in the process at a higher level if the whole business environment in the developed countries of the EU is the goal.
